Since her first book was
published in 1996, author Lori Foster has yet to slow down: Lori has published
over one hundred and fifty distinct works with a variety of publishing houses (Kensington, St. Martin's, Harlequin, Silhouette, Samhain, Berkley), achieving
during her long career an impressive number of literary awards. With five books
published each year and her astounding philanthropic work around the community,
she just might be Cincinnati’s hardest working romance writer. The New York
Times, USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly best-selling novelist, in fact, believes it’s important to give back to the
community as much as possible, and for that reason she routinely organizes
events among authors and readers to gather donations for various organizations.
“In an effort to give back to my
local community in a bigger way” Lori says, “I’ve been organizing ‘benefit
books’ over the past six years. For each anthology I personally choose
talented, caring authors to contribute, with me, a short novella tied in by
theme. All author and agent proceeds from the book go to a worthwhile local
cause. Because of the longevity of books and how royalties are paid, it’s the
gift that keeps on giving throughout the years.”
Along with her good friend, Duffy Brown, author of cozy mysteries Iced Chiffon, Killer In Crinolines, and Pearls
And Poison, Lori hosts a very special annual “Reader & Author” event in
West Chester, Ohio. Proceeds from the event benefit many worthy causes,
including the Hamilton County YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter
(an organization providing safe crisis line assistance, protective shelter and
necessary supportive services for battered women and their children to move
them toward self-sufficiency, independence and freedom from abuse), the Animal Adoption Foundation (a non-profit no-kill shelter for dogs and
cats that have been abused and abandoned), The Conductive Learning Center (a not-for-profit
corporation offering conductive education methodology for children diagnosed with neurological based motor impairments such as spina bifida and cerebral palsy), and The One Way Farm, Children’s Home (a non-profit organization located in Fairfield, Ohio, caring for the abused, abandoned, neglected, troubled youth, and children with disabilities and developmental disabilities). During her 9th Annual Reader & Author Get Together hosted in West Chester this past June, the romance writer raised thousands of dollars to benefit, among the many other organizations, also The Troop Project, an ongoing collection of care packages to be mailed off to various active-duty military troops (Contact Laurie Damron ljodamron@gmail.com for more details).

Actively involved in fund-raising
in support of the St. Jude Children Research Hospital and the Cincinnati Hospice for the cure of
pediatric diseases and end-of-life care of those in need, Lori Foster considers
herself blessed – “I’d like to give my sincere thanks to my publishers for
making the benefit books possible, and extra thanks to the generous authors who
always say ‘YES!’ when I ask if they’ll take part.”

proceeds from sales of Lori’s anthologies will benefit the charities she
